Abstract:

The topic of this article is ‘Usage of Imagery and autobiographical elements in the novels of Jay Goswami: Sanjhbatir Rupkathara and Jara Bristite Bhijechilo. In this article we choose the aspect of tendency and usage of imagery in Jay Goswami’s novels. For the purpose of limiting the scope of the discussion we choose two of his novels – Sanjhbatir Rupkathara and Jara Bristite Bhijechilo. These two novels were published in the same year, 1998. One of them is written in the form of prose and another is in the form of poetry.We discuss elaborately in this essay the types of imagery used by the author and their function in the novels. We also analyse the way autobiographical elements are incorporated in the novels through the use of imagery. We sourced information from his poems as well as his interviews.
